Craig Varjabedian: Photographs and Words
by Cindy L. Lane
PUBLISHED TO CELEBRATE THE PHOTOGRAPHER’S FORTY YEARS BEHIND THE LENS
Limited Edition of 200 numbered copies
Published in celebration of Craig’s forty years of making fine art photographs, Author and Director of Karmic Activity Cindy Lane at Craig Varjabedian Photography has assembled this limited edition book of her favorite images by the photographer. Craig Varjabedian: Photographs and Words showcases Varjabedian’s talent behind the lens. The glow of light on a stand of cottonwoods. Shadows on an adobe wall. The unearthly desert of White Sands. At once intimate and majestic, the photographs capture the distinct beauty of America’s landscape and cultures.
Craig Varjabedian’s photographs of the American West would be the perfect illustrations to a Cormac McCarthy book. They have a surreal beauty and poetic emptiness that border on the fictional. It’s as if this isn’t the real West, but the West of tall tales and American dreams . . . —Claire O’Neill, NPR
The photographs are paired with excerpts about Varjabedian’s photographic work from award-winning writers, critics, and collaborators. Among the authors are National Public Radio commentator Claire O’Neill, author Marc Simmons, Albuquerque Museum Director Cathy Wright and New York Times Best Selling author Hampton Sides.
